Apple Macintosh 24th Anniversary

January 22nd, 2008

The Apple Macintosh perform 24 years of its launch in the market this January 24, and with it the introduction of the graphical environment to the general public. Prior to the Apple Macintosh PC, the model Lisa, had already offered a graphical environment and mouse, but at a prohibitive price of nearly $ 10000.

To commemorate the date Dave Clausen, has made a modification of a case Macintosh 512k and has changed the mainboard by a Mac Mini, in addition to making the appropriate adjustments in order to withstand a floppy LS120 and the classic keyboard and the mouse Macintosh 512k.

The steps required to replicate the feat, circuits, photos and videos of the project are on the website of Dave.

Here the video of Steve Jobs introducing the Apple Macintosh:

Atoolo another webos more to the list.

January 3rd, 2008

Since last year has increased the number of projects which seek to offer a metaphor for desktop on the web, how part of tenure to the Web 2.0, this category of Web pages usually are called WebOS because many people associate the desktop with the operating system. They are well known similar projects like eyeOS and YouOS, but now has come Atoolo.

Atoolo, as any other WebOS that claims to be, try to copy a conventional desktop on the web, with taskbar, Start button and applications like word processor, spreadsheet and a instant messaging application. The look is impressive finish, and we have 1GB to store our documents, but the advent of a desktop 100% functional even this far, but the current progress show us that is a matter of time before we have a fully web-based desktop, and as a result of it, the cost of desktop PC would be reduced tremendously.

Here some screenshots:

Last Microsoft Office Service Pack 3 has problems.

January 2nd, 2008

Just to warn that with the latest service pack (version 3) for Office 2003, Microsoft has disabled support for older file formats like Excel 95, Excel 97, PowerPoint 97, CorelDraw, and so on. Now you may not have access to those files. So gentlemen know if updated to latest service pack 3 for Office 2003, because it may not open its old files according to Microsoft for security reasons. The question then is, why before we save our data in formats that Microsoft knew were unsafe?.

Well if someone made the mistake of upgrading its Office 2003 with the latest service pack, and seeks access to the old files on this website that Microsoft described the manual procedure to disable blocking those files.
